Martin Luther King Jr.
I am Forrest "Buddy" Ellifritz . I currently serve as your Sheriff. I am seeking re-election to continue as your Sheriff. Endorsed by the West Virginia Sheriff's Association.
Served over 15 years as Assistant Engineer, Lieutenant, and President. I received both the Officer of the year and Member of the year Awards while serving with BVFD. I know the sacrifices our volunteers make to serve our communities.
I began my career with the Keyser City Police in 1986. I was promoted to Captain in 2004 by Chief Karen Shoemaker. While serving with KPD I was awarded numerous commendations and local and national awards. Served on the original Mineral County Drug Task Force and served as Preventive Resource Officer at Keyser High School for 8 years. I have extensive training in all areas of Law Enforcement and was the second person to be awarded the FBI LEEDA Tri-ology Award for Supervisory Training
This is your Sheriff's Department. You have given me the honor of overseeing it for you, the citizens of Mineral County. In my first term as your Sheriff I have been transparent and accountable to the citizens of Mineral County and have demanded it from not only the Sheriff's Dept. but all elected officials. We work for you and its your tax dollars you have entrusted us with. (Pictured is the 2023 Sheriff's Office coloring contest winner)
A lifetime resident of Mineral County, I began my Law Enforcement career In 1986. I reside in Keyser with my wife of 28 years Lauren.
The number one priority of any government is the safety and security of it's citizens. Even with our budget cut and being two Deputies short, with hard work, the members of the Sheriff's Office continues providing 24/7 law enforcement protection to the citizens of Mineral County. Mineral County Sheriff's Office answers over 80% of 911 calls generated through Mineral County Office of Emergency Services.
Our elderly and children are the most vulnerable citizens. As Sheriff it is a priority to see that they are represented and protected. With an elderly mother who suffers dementia, I understand the struggles our elderly endure as well as those caretakers who assist them. We must ensure they are protected and kept safe.
